An Announcement from PlanetMagpie on the Skype-Lync Integration
In May, Microsoft made one of its biggest acquisitions: Skype, the world's most popular VoIP service.

In July, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer talked at the WPC Conference about what they plan to do following the acquisition. Namely, integration between Skype and Lync Server 2010, Microsoft's Unified Communications suite.

Lync has been favored by enterprise-level businesses for its scalability. Adoption among small businesses hasn't been as quick. The Skype acquisition may soon change that, though.

On our Lync Insider blog, PlanetMagpie's given some details about the Skype-Lync integration. Plus some thoughts on what we think it'll do for small and mid-market businesses. For instance, they could create a composite application that acts as a complete SMB communications platform.

Since we've had quite a few questions from our customers, PlanetMagpie would like to say:
  • We do provide Lync Server implementation, customization and support services (in fact, we have 4 implementations currently underway!).
  • The Lync 2010 service offering will gain even more communications capability with Skype's tools integrated.
  • We're always ready to help you determine if Lync Server is a good choice for your office.
