Lync Server 2010: A Complete Communications System for the Office
Lync Server 2010 is a complete communications solution that's easy to use. Use Lync Server instead of a PBX phone system for the office. It provides 3 communication tools in one: Instant Messaging/Presence status awareness, Audio/Video/Web Conferencing, and Enterprise Voice for phones.
New Features in Lync Server 2010
- A full media gateway is no longer required for VoIP (saves thousands in hardware and configuration costs).
- Audio/Video and Web Conferencing (what Live Meeting did before) is now fully integrated into Lync Server.
- Lync runs on virtual servers for a smaller footprint, better response times and reduced cost.
- Group Chat: A new "bulletin board" area for multi-person discussions. Users can initiate a discussion, join an existing one or search through saved discussions.
