Peter P: Financial Planner

Remote access saves time…

Mirra user Peter P. is the classic example of a small office/home office business professional. A financial planner and mortgage financier, he has both a home office, where his primary computer residesa nd a business office, where he uses a laptop that he also takes to client meetings.

For Peter, remote access was a key factor in deciding to use the Mirra Personal Server.

“If I forget a file when I visit a client, I can’t waste 40 minutes of my time - or my client’s time -driving back to my office to retrieve it,” Peter says. “The Mirra’s remote access feature allows me to get to my files whether I’m at the office or visiting clients.”

In addition to remote access, Peter uses his Mirra to back up important business files, music and photos. He used to use a tape backup system, but he never felt confident that he could actually restore lost files with it. Mirra gives Peter the security of knowing that his files are always protected without his having to swap out tapes or CDRs for backup.

“The Mirra Personal Server is easy to use, extremely convenient and reliable,” Peter said. “I now have peace of mind knowing that I have a safety net for my files.”

Pete T: Photography Enthusiast

Protecting treasured family photos…

Referring to Pete as an avid photo hobbyist is an understatement -- he has more than 20,000 digital photos in his collection! His pictures document precious moments with his family, his friends and, most important of all, his grandkids. Protecting these valuable photos is important to his peace of mind, but it had become a time-consuming burden. After he accidentally deleted a cherished set of photos, Pete began backing them up on CDs. Each time he downloaded pictures from his camera to his PC, he immediately burned them onto a CD. However, this was a tedious and occasionally unreliable process, as he learned after a few of those backup CDs turned out to be unreadable.

Pete bought a Mirra Personal Server for its immediate and continuous backup feature. Now, when he downloads digital photos from his camera to his PC, they are instantly backed up to the Mirra. And if he accidentally deletes photos, he can quickly restore them from his Mirra.

In addition to automatic photo protection, Pete uses his Mirra to share photos with family and friends, something he used to hesitate to do because he was reluctant to clog their e-mail boxes with large attachments. Mirra’s folder sharing feature allows Pete to share as many pictures as he likes with anyone he wants, without having to use e-mail attachments.

“Mirra is a great product for protecting and sharing my digital photos,” says Pete. “I’m very happy with my Personal Server. It works exactly as advertised.”

Mary B: Office Manager

Mirra pays for itself…

Mary B. is office manager for an insurance agent who works out of his home office. She’s also a Mirra pioneer who swears by Mirra’s reliability and claims it’s already saved her life - twice.

Mary’s laptop began to show signs of failing. She had invested seven months on a massive music project for a friend’s wedding and was terrified she would lose all those files just days before the event.

“I was in a complete panic and I didn’t have time to take my laptop into some repair shop. I just wanted those files off my laptop and somewhere safe ASAP,” says Mary of trying to rescue her music project. “So you can imagine the sense of urgency I felt to move that data quickly. Once the files were on the Mirra, it was easy to restore them to another computer and I was able to complete the wedding project on time.”

The second save came when her boss’s PC crashed and he needed to move all his data to a new computer. Again, Mirra saved the day.

“One of the hardest things to do is upgrade a computer and computer consultants can charge as much as $200 to $300 to get everything transferred,” Mary says. “It was easy for me to restore my boss’s files to a different PC without any technical support. My Mirra has easily paid for itself, not once but twice.”

Gregg S: Author & Radio Host

10 minutes to airtime, uh oh…

Gregg S. is the author of Internet Privacy for Dummies and the host of a daily radio program. He runs his business from his home office, which currently houses a desktop and a laptop computer and which he is in the process of expanding. Gregg relies heavily on his PCs but doesn’t feel a burning desire to know much about how they actually work. In other words, he wants them to work flawlessly without his having to intervene or to hire a computer consultant.

Before he started using Mirra, Gregg stored files haphazardly on both PCs, didn’t know where anything was and had no consistent backup practices. He knew enough to know that he risked losing important files, but not enough to know how to resolve the problem. An IT consultant recommended a complex backup system, but Gregg couldn’t figure out how to use it. He realized that he and not his computers, was the weak link in his home office and that he really needed an automatic backup/file management solution.

Came the day when Gregg’s computer crashed just minutes before he was to go on the air. Naturally it contained a document he had to have for the opening segment of his show. “I started to panic,” says Gregg, “but then I remembered that with my new Mirra, which I’d bought only weeks before, I could restore that document from Mirra to my other computer.” He had the document in hand and was ready to go on the air with time to spare.

“I don’t know what I’d do without Mirra,” Gregg says. “It’s saved my bacon more than once. And it works on its own -- I don’t have to do a thing. I’m hooked!”
